This beautiful short film was created in real-time in out-of-the-box Unity 2019.2 using regular home-office desktop computers. It showcases what it is possible to achieve with real-time animation.
Building these character rigs was quite a challenge, since the requests from the Unity team where both real-time performance and feature-film quality, and all within a strict set of rules about poly-count and rigging features, like limiting the use of blendshapes, using joints instead of animation caches, etc.
The rigs were created in Maya and then exported into Unity, where they would run in real-time.
